Tournaments.....

Played in the Ultimate Bet 500 Bonus Dollar Freeroll today. I finished 72nd out of 1500. Anyway, I think that one lesson to be taken from the tourney was to be willing to open up your play on occasion. I missed 2 flushes due to folding which may very well have been the difference between making final table and busting where I did. No whining just a lessons learned type of note.

Website review

I have been playing a lot of free games of Hold'Em on assorted websites. One of the sites that I frequent is Ultimate Bet. Pluses of the site include its graphical interface. It allows you to play in a mini mode that does not interfere with other tasks while woking on the computer. Other pluses include its tournament structure and wide varity of games. One downside is that ts freeroll tournaments end relatively early in the day but there are numerous other playing opportunities available.

I am in the process of establishing an affiliate relationsip with Ultimate Bet. I hope that you will try their service and form a long term playing relationship. Please click on the banner ad in the sidebar to obtain their software and try out their games.

Rating: 3.5/4 stars for software reliability and game structure.

On my reading list

I am fascinated by the ideas of rapid cognition. Blink explores how humans recognize that something is wrong in a fraction of a second without this knowledge being concously processed. In many ways it relates to the science of Poker, recognition of the tell and the bluff. While not a traditional Poker book it definitely has the potential to improve your thinking abilities. If you struggle with reading intentions of your opponents I definitely think that this book is worth taking the time to read and absorb.

My rating 3.5/4 Aces.

Cards and life

I started a new hobby since Christmas. I am playing online Texas Hold'Em multitable tournaments.

As my friends know I come from a family of card players. I have started to play cards on a regular basis again with friends as well as online. I am going to use this as a diary about lessons learned from cards about life.

I am starting a small business to sell high end playing cards and game supplies. I hope that you will patronize my EBay store once I have it up and running.
